Morettino pods become even friendlier with nature thanks to the new internal envelope in certified compostable food filter paper, which allows the pod to deteriorate in the ground and turn into compost in the course of just 3 months.
Respect for nature has always guided the work of the historic Sicilian coffee company, a value that has been declined for a hundred years in all phases of coffee processing, from the selection of raw materials in the countries of origin to ecological roasting with clean hot air .
This is why Morettino has long invested in the sustainability of its pods, both EQ Espresso and universal pods, which have always been eco-sustainable. Now the biodegradable pods (with a degradation time in the environment of 6-12 months) become compostable, disposable in the wet and degradable in the soil in only 90 days.
With this innovation, the result of a constant research, the Morettino pods of the EQ Espresso and ESE will have an even lower environmental impact than before. In fact, once the coffee has been extracted, the pod can be thrown into the organic waste – creating new fertilizer for the soil and thus avoiding the creation of solid waste – or put in the pots of the house plants to provide a useful supply of acid PH.

This is a further step in the sustainability path that Morettino is pursuing with commitment and motivation on all fronts. The distinctive Morettino roasting with clean hot air allows the natural organoleptic properties of the coffee to be enhanced, with soft roasting curves, eliminating CO2 emissions in the atmosphere and thus creating a natural, good and healthy coffee.
All of this can be translated into the constant search for new eco-sustainable materials for products, the lightening of the wrapping and the gradual abolition of aluminum, while maintaining the high standards of freshness in the preservation of coffee.
