MORETTINO CAFFè PALERMO
The café of the Belle Epoque reopens after more than a century
It was in 1902 when Caffè Palermo, a historic café from Palermo’s Belle Époque, closed the doors of its luxurious coffeehouse located inside one of the Quattro Canti. Now, more than 120 years later, those doors have reopened, giving life to Morettino Caffè Palermo, which has been revived with the desire to rediscover and enhance a place that belongs to the memory of our city.
In the heart of Palermo’s historic center, amidst the scenery of what is called the “Theater of the Sun,” Morettino Caffè Palermo evokes the timeless beauty of Palermo’s Belle Époque, when the city was a hub for European aristocracy, hosting intellectuals and artists, and serving as a crossroads for the new entrepreneurial dynasties led by the Florio family. Today, over a century later, in these elegant and iconic spaces, visitors can relive that era which inspired the “Palermo Felicissima,” thus restoring the city’s historic café.
