“I Caffè di Sicilia – Saline di Nubia - Trapani” is dedicated to the ancient salt quarries built during the Norman domination to produce sea salt.
THE TRAPANI SALT QUARRIES
Of Phoenician origin, the Arab geographer al-Idrīsī documented the presence of the salt quarries dating back to the Norman domination of Sicily.
Between 1500 and 1700, under the Spanish crown, the salt quarries reached their period of maximum activity and glory, transforming the port of Trapani into the most important European commerce center of the precious element.
Since 1995, the salt quarries are a protected nature reserve managed by WWF, in which there are 208 species of birds, among which the pink flamingos.
One of the distinguishing factors of the landscape is the presence of the windmills used to grind the salt.

The “I Caffè di Sicilia” product line is Morettino’s tribute to its land.
Each coffee is dedicated to one of the island’s treasures. A sort of Grand Tour to discover the unique territories, among flavors and different stories.
