“I Caffè di Sicilia – Orto Botanico” is dedicated to the famous tropical garden of Palermo, which collects more than 12 thousand botanical species from all over the world.
ORTO BOTANICO
When Goethe visited the Botanical Garden in 1787, he was enchanted. In his “Viaggio in Italia” he wrote: «In the public garden near the marina I spent hours of very nice quiet. It is the most beautiful place in the world. Despite the regularity of its design, it has something of a fairy tale; it dates back to a few years ago, but it brings us to ancient times».
Built in 1786, the Botanical Garden collects over 12,000 different plants from all over the world. Between the mid-nineteenth century and the early twentieth century it became a point of reference for botanists from all over the world, who transferred here several species of tropical plants that were perfectly able to adapt to the climate of Palermo.
Among these, for example, also the first plant of Coffea Arabica, of which some cuttings have given life to the small experimental coffee plantation that is located in the gardens of our roastery.
The "I Caffè di Sicilia" collection is Morettino's homage to his land.
Each coffee is dedicated to one of the island's treasures. A sort of Grand Tour to discover unique territories, between different flavors and stories.
Thanks to them, it is possible to make an imaginary walk through the streets of the most authentic Sicily accompanied by the scent of the blends created to recall the characteristics of the place to which they are dedicated.
FLAVORS OF THE TERRITORY
Inside each package is a special blend of freshly ground coffee, roasted by Morettino master roasters and made to recreate the traditional aromas and flavors of the city of Palermo.
