Brewing

Welcome to the world of Brewed Coffee, also called Filter Coffee: a fascinating way of drinking coffee, made of infinite aromatic nuances, which vary depending on the individual coffee origins and extraction methods. And it is, moreover, the most popular way to drink coffee in the world.

There are several methods of extracting filter coffee: what they all have in common is the ability to create a drink that is closer to the world of infusions and teas than to the classic Italian coffee. The filter preparations allow to extract the most important characteristics of coffee slowly and at a lower temperature. For this reason, it is advisable to use only the highest quality of coffee, mainly single origin or blended with pure high ground Arabica.

In this section you will find a wide selection of perfect tools for enjoying the Brewing Coffee Experience at home: extraction tools, such as Chemex, V60 and French Press and their filters, but also precision grinders and scales.

Filter Coffee extraction tools

V60
It is the filter coffee par excellence, loved by the most passionate coffee lovers. The reason is what you find in the cup: the V60 enhances the best organoleptic characteristics of the origins used, without altering them through excessive water temperature or pressure. The coffee is extracted by percolation: the water from above passes through the fresh ground coffee, placed on a food paper filter, extracting the drink slowly and gently. It is called V60 because of the extractor cone, which is a V perforated underneath - that can be made of copper, ceramic, glass or plastic – with an angle of 60 degrees.

Chemex
The operation is very similar to that of V60, but aesthetically it is a real design object. Chemex is a hourglass-shaped glass jug with a sort of brown wooden collar around the middle bottleneck. It is the work of German Peter Schlumbohm who created it in 1941 and it is an icon of modern design exhibited at the MoMA in New York.

Aeropress
Designed by a Frisbee maker in 2005, the Aeropress gives life to full-bodied coffees, rich in aroma. It is an instrument made of two cylindrical containers that slide one inside the other, like a syringe. Coffee and water, after being in contact for 30-50 seconds, pass through a filter thanks to the pressure applied by hand.

French Press
It was invented by the French in the nineteenth century, but it was patented in 1929 by two Italians, Attilio Calimani and Giulio Moneta. The French Press has a filter, a plunger and a collector jug. The coffee powder is poured into the jug together with hot water, leaving them to infuse for a few minutes. After about 4 minutes the plunger is pushed, which filters the water through a small net that traps the coffee powder.
