Moka

Moka is the famous Italian coffee maker invented in 1933 by Alfonso Bialetti and has become a style icon, one of the symbols of Made in Italy in the world, an object of industrial design also exhibited at the MoMA in New York.

It’s functioning is fascinating, an engineering work applied to the kitchen: the water contained in the base heats up, thanks to the pressure generated by the steam is pushed upwards and passes through the ground coffee, coming out and creating a full-bodied and intense drink. In Italy that of coffee prepared with the coffee maker is a real ritual, made of ancient gestures that are symbols of family and home.

The gestures of its preparation, the slow coming out of the coffee, the gurgling that announces its release and the sensational scent that fills the room and the whole house, are moments that are part of the everyday life of every Italian. “A coffee maker on the fire is enough to fill a room” wrote the writer Erri De Luca.

Morettino is deeply linked to this ritual, so much that it has signed some beautiful colored coffee makers, entirely Made in Italy, with his own name.

Morettino has also dedicated its Gift Box Sicily to Moka Morettino, which celebrate the encounter between two icons of the Sicilian tradition: coffee made with a coffee maker and the Sicilian Opera dei Pupi.
